Xscapers – A New Generation of RVers

Escapees RV Club founders Joe and Kay Peterson were just 43 years old and working on the road when they started full-time RVing. When they formed the club in 1978, 40 percent of the members were under age 50, the majority was still working at least part-time, and nine of the first 100 member-families were traveling full-time with their kids.

Escapees’ 36-year mission is to provide a complete support network for ALL RVers. Travis and Melanie Carr, the third generation of this family-owned business, realized that the newest generation of RVers was being inadvertently left out.

Inspired by the Club’s original roots and their own desire to work and travel while in their 20s, they are expanding the circle of support by creating a brand new lifestyle group called Xscapers.

Xscapers is a support network for RVers who (in most cases) have not yet retired but have already, or are aspiring to, hit the road in pursuit of a full-time or part-time nomadic lifestyle. Travis and Melanie worked closely with Chris Dunphy and Cherie Ve Ard of Technomadia in order to come up with new benefits and services that would help meet the needs of these RVers.
 

To keep information and resources better geared to meet the needs of each demographic niche, a one-style-fits-all format was less than ideal; therefore, there are two separate websites available for both Escapees (www.escapees.com) and Xscapers (www.xscapers.com). However, every member has the ability to participate in either group as much or as little as they choose.

The price is just $29.95 regardless of which group you join!  At that price you have complete access to both groups—there is no separation in membership and no additional costs. You will find a slightly different look and feel on each site, and some of the resources vary, but you may easily cross back and forth between sites based on your personal interests and needs.

As the year unfolds, you may see some new events and Xscapers gatherings taking place. We anticipate convergences where various generations will come together in a whole new way. Let the adventure begin—we’ll see you on the horizon!
